How often do you visit our site?

What information were you looking for?
- Graphics to download
- Information on using site files
- current events, found exhibits and rare glimpses...is that all that's
happening?
- Where i could get hold of photos of Pimas
- Musuem Store Hours
- I was looking for Lynn S. Teague, to ask her a question on Pima pottery.
I found her, but couldn't link to here email until you fixed the website.
I got in touch with her about 3 weeks later.
- I was looking for a book and information on museum spaces, etc. I
did order a book that has been very helpful.
- With sites/sources such as yours I am always looking for new leads
to Hopi material. I found several references I didn't have.

fit to my schedule.

numerous questions
- INFORMATION ABOUT SAVE AMERICANS TREASURES.
- ordering information for backcopies of Kiva
- Activities and events
- YES: information that I put in the Archives section myself !! - it's
an easy way to find dates that I previously researched and put there
as the "gospel" about when the Archives was founded, when certain
collections were transferred there, etc.
- Usually attending the openings of new exhibitions.
- I would like to know if certain petroglyph or ruin sites have been

- I was looking for information on a conference on tribal archives and
did not find it.
- e-mail address and rare book auction listing
- artist's application information for Southwest Indian Art Fair; deadline
for entry; eligibility
- As first time casual visitor, would have liked to find more gallerly
pictures/info immediately. Needed stuff was too imbeded. Plus a more
informative genral description on first page. Plus info about importance
of this museum immediately. Visitors would be more motivated if first
page welcomed people to important educational and research institution.
Being affiliated with Smithsonian is important up front. In other words
"sell" your great institution to newcomers first. Then provide
the long list of parts of the museum for the serious and probably already
informed researcher. I had no idea that an institution of this importance
even existed here. I have seen Smithsonian museums in WASh. D.C. and
the Museum of American INdian in New York City.Plus Mesa Verde, etc.
Also suggest that you have web pages for children. Most 4th or 5th graders
do a project on Amercan Indians in most every school. Many times they
do not find sufficient information.
- How to order back issues of Kiva
- photographsof mexican people
- Map--to find museum
- Availability of ASM Archaeological Series individual titles

- To see if you were looking for help redesigning your website.

Did you find it?

How easy is it for you to find information on our site?

How would you rate the content of our site?
How would you rate the visual appeal (the look) of our website?
What do you like or not like about the look of our site?
- too institutional, feels efficient but doesn't feel friendly, some
of the headlines look fun but, then, open up to a really dry
- not too busy
- I like getting a lot of real information at site, not just photos.
- I like that it is being updated to be current.
- Found the layout easy to interpret. My old eyes could use text a pica
or two larger.
- I like how it quick to find a topic of intrest
- Like-clean appearance, not too crowded.
- Need more pictures of materials
- There is a potential of having too much stuff.
- MORE INVITING. MORE IMAGES ON THE 'ARCHAEOLOGICAL' RESEARCH PAGES
WOULD PROBABLY HELP THE TEXT, AND COULD INCLUDE SOME ACTIVE SHOTS OF
PARTICIPANTS IN ASM SPONSONRED RESEARCH. BUT, THE SMALL IMAGES DON'T
DO JUSTICE TO THE ITEMS THAT ARE BEING PORTRAYED. I THINK THE BORDERS
AROUND THE TAPESTY CENTER AND NAMPEYO PAGES ARE BEAUTIFUL, THOUGH
- Simple but enough visual info and it still loads quickly
- Seems cluttered, but by definition most websites are/must be: they're
trying to direct you to all sorts of stuff. But the opening page seems
repetative, with the bar at the top, and then certain of those same locations
highlighted below - I think it would be better to not lead the user to
think those are different things. (if this is totally unclear, call me
and I'll explain). I'd like the thumbnail pictures in the Archives seciton
to be enlarged. I know that the whole idea of thumbnails is to not take
up space, but the size they are they look pretty crappy. How about 2x
or 3x as big?
- I haven't made time to look into available educational programs or
materials that can be used in the classroom. I'm planning to make time
during summer school this summer.
- The appearance doesn't mean much. I want information.
- I have no strong feelings about the "look".
- [Don't Like] Some of the colors. Example: calendars.
- It is somewhat plain
- I like the information. I d'ont like that is'nt information in spanish
language.
- the artifacts look good, not sure how i feel about the rest
- Same old Same old
- I liked the clean, open, uncluttered look.
- inconsisten with Upcoming Rare Book auction item
- don't like color scheme or menu graphics
- The beginning needs to be more enticing. Tell someone who knows nothing
about you who you are first.!!!!!!!
- plain
- More concerned about content
- tired to print out nampeyo red background stuff-only got pix not any
written info
What do like most about our site?
- Easy to use
- its potential
- good contact details
- I liked the fact that you fixed it when it needed fixing. You seem
concerned more about the appearance than the function. If a site doesn't
give me solid information quickly, I don't care how nice it looks. Form
follows function.
- Like the rich colors in the photos
- how everthing is layed out that I can topics at a
- Organized, and simple
- The links to the different collections and the associated pictures
- Format is fairly easy
- IT SEEMS TO HAVE SOME GOOD EDUCATIONAL CONTENT, IF NOT VERY IN DEPTH.
- The online calendar is great. Mix between text and graphics provides
acceptable load times for pages. Nice job.
- The Nampeyo section has potential - the more pictures of artifacts
with attached information, the better, as far as I am concerned.
- Accessability.
- The fact that it it there.
- Its straightforward.
- Content.
- Interesting tidbits in each link
- the range of information
- Speedy reply from your staff
- fast loading, comprehensive, well organized
- To have information in spanish language.
- The CAPR artifacts
- Nothing
- Ability to get an idea of all that was on the site quickly.
- graphic display
- has lots of content
- Describes all the functions of the institution in separate sections.
- visuals and lst of exhibits
- nice to look at but i needed to PRINT
If you could change one thing about our site (or add one thing) what
would it be?
- It was hard to find someone to e-mail for my request. I actually
had to go into the staff directory. I expected there to be an e-mail
address for the head of the department after I read his bio.
- more pictures, the nampeyo thing was neat albeit a bit dry looking
- nothing
- Your descriptions of what is in a given heading are kind of amorphous.
A not of people don't know what material culture consists of. Talk to
the ordinary
- Nothing obvious strikes me.
- Glossary for archaeology and anthropology; explanation, study, and
research on SW archaeological sites.
- More pictures
- I wouldn't change a thing. I'm not a webmaster
- SEE ABOVE…
- email address for contacting Kiva, and information on ordering
- Change the opening page, re: my comments above, to eliminate apparent
duplication of links.
- Using local resources for information or presentations on different
subjects, etc. (Local Native Americans of different tribes)
- Give it more flexibility and make it user friendly. If certain categories
of information aren't open to the public, say so.
- More specific informaton about activities and collections would be
nice as would more focus on exhibits
- Search link on every page.
- add more information and links
- more resources about collections
- See comments above
- better site map functions
- Specific link to volunteer opportunities - with descriptions and
contact information.
- not sure
- How about adding some original content?
- prominent e-mail address
- Purpose, mission, vision, who founded it on first page. \Give broad
scope before details.
- No email addresses or links to various depts of ASM.
- I would like to access collections , I only saw 4 photos from each
category
- More Internet links for content you do not provide (e.g., U of AZ
Press, which distributes and lists ASM Archaeological Series titles.
Especially if you have no (?) sales section?
- Contact and/or staff information
- The architecture of the site, making it easier to navigate.
- There should be a roster of staff with positions and emails.
- tired to print out nampeyo red background stuff-only got pix not any
written info
If you had any problems using the site, what were they?
- just the e-mail thing: It was hard to find someone to e-mail for
my request. I actually had to go into the staff directory. . I expected
there to be an e-mail address for the head of the department after I
read his bio.
- I did a web search on "Arizona State Museum" and it showed
up 19th on a list that included mostly ASU and State Capitol museum sites.
It did return the educators page to me as number one, but that had no
connection to the ASM home page. When I found the "about"
page it wasn't until I got to the bottom of the page that I discovered
the museum is in Tucson.
- the rare glimpes text overlaps the images on every page...makes it
unreadable
- no
- Neither the "Museum Store" link nor the "Where to find
Us & Our Hours" link showed the store hours.
- Couldn't send my email through the link to the curator.
- You already know that information
- I think I have experienced this with other sites, so perhaps it just
goes with the territory, but when I was looking at the Nampeyo listing
in the "In the Spotlight" section and it offered me a "button"
marked HOME, I expected that to take me back to the original homepage,
not just to the sub-site for Nampeyo.
- Unable to find the particular archaeological site I wanted study more.
- No problems
- None.
- See comments above
- no problems
- How do you find particular people/e-mails, etc if you have a question
for them?
- Nothing worth viewing
- couldn't find artist's application information for Southwest Indian
Art Fair; deadline for entry; eligibility
- Big graphic on one of first pages with What: Who: Where: Info I needd
was imbedded. Improve by doing the following:: Use Questions to interest
reader in What,Where, Who started, WHen started: Why: started. ASK questions
with graphic demonstrating how to find link to answers.
- Paucity of content or links to ASM research or publications. Lack
of ASM Library detail on ASM publications. E.g., if ASM Library is not,
judging by their on-line catalog, shouldn't a list, or booklet exist
to provide info for the entire series?
- danged red background and white print equals NO words, only pix
