Stages in pottery manufacture from Nampeyo (ca. 1926)

  • Nampeyo

In July of 1926, Harold S. Gladwin, Director of Gila Pueblo Foundation in Globe, Arizona, purchased examples of the stages in pottery manufacture from Nampeyo. Within this set are samples of bowls as well as jars. The unfinished pieces well illustrate the gray color of the unfired clay that turns yellow to orange only after firing.
