Galvez' latest project, VATOS, is a stunning book that combines his photographs with the poetry of Luis Alberto Urrea.

Galvez himself will be on hand September 29 at Arizona State Museum's month-end celebration, a Gran Tardeada, to discuss his works and sign books. Contact 520-626-8381 to request an invitation.

Arizona State Museum is located on the University of Arizona campus, just east of the Main Gate at Park Avenue and University Boulevard. 520-626-5886 for more information.

(University of Arizona, Tucson) Tucson-based, Pulitzer Prize winning photographer Jose Galvez is Arizona State Museum's featured artist for September and will be a special guest at a Sept. 29 celebration.

In recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month, ASM is proud to show Galvez' work in an intimate exhibit entitled RITUALES: Mexican-American Rites and Rituals. Photographs will celebrate various Mexican-American ceremonies such as baptisms, First Communions, quinceaneras, weddings, home altars, graduations, naturalization ceremonies and even low rider competitions.
