Sticking With It

“Before I met a certain weaver, I had a problem with her, because she said she was only weaving until she graduated from school. The only reason she was weaving was to make money for school. That really bothered me, because at that point in my life I was really connected to my work.
“Then I remembered back when I first got started, and that was the reason that I got into this business in the first place. I looked at my sister Lynda who did the same thing. She used weaving to put herself through school at ASU and when she graduated, she stopped weaving. But now, ten years later, she’s back to weaving because it’s something that keeps her connected to our family.
“I don’t know if that other weaver is done with school yet, but I know that she is still weaving. She is getting to the point where weaving really has a hold of her.” —Barbara Ornelas
