Vegetal-dyed storm rug
Date: 1991
Artist: Rebecca Tso
Size: 61" x 43"
Count: 58 wefts/inch

“Rebecca Tso from Klagetoh, Arizona, uses the soft vegetal colors most often used by weavers from nearby Wide Ruins and Pine Springs. Many of these dyed yarns are sold under the commercial brand name ‘Wilde and Woolly’ at Burnham Trading Post at Sanders. Trader Bruce Burnham is known for encouraging local weavers to innovate and try new materials.” —Ann Hedlund

“This rug is so feminine, like Grace Kelly, totally elegant, walking down a staircase. This is amazing. I wouldn’t even know where to begin.” —Sierra Ornelas

“The pattern is a storm within a storm, and the colors are used really well—light, dark, light, dark. Look at the number of colors that she’s using. I’ve seen people use so many colors that it takes away from the pattern, but she uses a lot and it still balances.” —Barbara Ornelas
