“Rounds rugs have appeared since the late 1960s when the late Rose Owens of Kinlichee, Arizona, invented the style. Most are woven within a steel wagon wheel rim and require special patience from start to finish. Nora Bitsui’s version has a ‘Snowflake’ pattern with colors typical of Ganado, Klagetoh and Pinon areas.” —Ann Hedlund
“I would like to try making a round rug, but I have a problem with how to stretch the rug on the loom. When I see this I think of round shields. I think it relates again to my interest in video games and war stories.” —Michael Ornelas
