A skilled field photographer, Teiwes also created magical images within her studio. Despite the documentary nature of many of the photo requests from colleagues and outside researchers, she nevertheless could inject a creative spark, a humorous touch, or a signature flair to what otherwise might have been sterile "mug shots."

Among her best studio products are the images created for use as museum exhibit posters and catalogues. Wonders of engineering as well as visual delights, they are the primary means through which the world has come to know of Helga Teiwes' artistry.
