Welcome to the online exhibition Portraits in Cloth: Tohono O'odham Quilts of Goldie Richmond, showcased at the Arizona State Museum from January 27 to May 26 2001.

This exhibition highlights the life of a most remarkable woman from Arizona’s recent past. A big woman in many ways, animal trapper and native goods trader Goldie Richmond stood 6 feet 4 inches and weighed 350 pounds. She wore a man’s size 14 shoe. Her size as well as her incredible exploits, such as being on the winning end of wrestling match with a wildcat, made her somewhat of a legend.
