Vanessa Celaya (Reporter): This September 20th [2008] you and your family are invited to an important art exhibition here at the Arizona State Museum. The program will start at 1:00 p.m. and end at 4:00 p.m. The best thing is it’s completely free. And although the exhibition opening event is September 20th, the paintings are on public view from September 15th through October 27th.The artist, Daniel Martin Diaz, will be available to talk about his art. He will be signing posters, DVDs and a book he has written.

Daniel Martin Diaz (voice of translator): I began to paint at around 20 years old. I’ve been painting for 12 years, drawing inspiration from the museums I’ve visited.

Celaya: A Tucson native, Daniel also had a unique source of inspiration.

Diaz: I’ve been going to church since I was a boy, and seeing the images of Jesus motivated me to paint.

Celaya: It’s interesting that this talented painter never took art classes. He went to museums and galleries; that led him to become motivated and practice art.

Diaz: If you apply yourself you can succeed. If I could do it anyone can.

Celaya: Remember, the program will take place September 20th at the Arizona State Museum. For more information go to the page on the screen. This is Vanessa Celaya, Apoyando a Nuestra Comunidad (Supporting Our Community).
