(Check all that apply.) We will do our best to accommodate requests, but please be flexible! Some positions fill up faster than others, and due to last minute changes, we may need to assign you a different job.
Volunteer Leader We are seeking a core group of volunteers who are eager to volunteer for a full day, either Friday, Saturday or Sunday. In a two hour orientation session before the event, these volunteer leaders will be trained to be able to perform all tasks within a major functional area, e.g., evaluations collector, demonstration area, etc. During one day of the event, these volunteer leaders will then train and supervise the shift volunteers within that area. Please consider taking this opportunity to make this event even better!
Setup Crew Hang signs, number tables set up small pop-up tents. Involves light lifting and standing. All work is outside. Friday 8–12
Artist Assistant Assist artists delivering their work to the juried competition. Work inside and outside. Involves some walking, travel to the museum’s second floor, and interaction with Artists. Friday 8–12
Artist Unloader/Loader Greet the artists as they arrive and help them set up efficiently, or, at the end of the day, help them pack and load their vehicles. Involves pushing a cart from drop off area to artists' spaces. 1.5–2 hr. shifts. Saturday 7–9 or 5–6:30 or Sunday 8–10 or 3:30–5:30
Silent Auction Assistant Monitor and explain the silent auction process. Must be comfortable interacting with the public. Requires standing and walking short distances. Saturday 9–1 or 1–5 or Sunday 10–1 or 1–4
Admission Area Assistant Hand-stamping, handing out programs, collecting tickets. Involves standing. Saturday 9–1 or 1–5 or Sunday 10–1 or 1–5
Artist Aide Help us help others! Cover artists and volunteers on breaks. Involves mostly walking. Comfort in approaching artists to see if assistance is needed. Saturday 9–11, 11–2 or 2–5 or Sunday 10–1 or 1–4
Raffle Ticket/Poster Sales Interact with the public. Encourage people to buy tickets to our raffle! Must be comfortable approaching the public and handling money. Saturday 9–1 or 1–5 or Sunday 10–1 or 1–4
Raffle Donation Collector Meet the artists! Help us collect items for the raffle! Involves walking and filling out simple forms. Must be comfortable approaching the artists and asking for donations. Saturday 8–10:30 only
Food Area Assistant Monitor food area for congestion. Establish orderly traffic flow and line formation. Empty trash cans. Involves standing, walking, and some lifting. Saturday 10–1 or 1–5 or Sunday 10–1 or 1–4
Bottled Water Seller Help keep SWIAF patrons hydrated by selling bottled water. Involves handling cash, some standing, and interacting with the public. Saturday 10–1 or 1–5 or Sunday 10–1 or 1–4
Hospitality Center Assistant Help get us going and keep us going. Staff the hospitality center (coffee, beverages, and continental breakfasts for the artists and staff). Involves standing and light lifting. Saturday 7–10:30 or Sunday 8–10:30
Demonstration Area Assistant Comfortable working with people? Assist with everything related to the demonstration area. Involves standing and walking short distances. Saturday 11–3 or Sunday 11–3
Gate Assistant Help monitor the “Exit Only” areas. Can you be diligently attentive and read a book? This is the job for you! Must remain at gate, sitting or standing. Saturday 9–11, 11–2 or 2–5 or Sunday 10–12, 12–2 or 2–4
Evaluation Collector Interact with the public! Help us get visitor feedback! Involves standing and the ability to approach visitors to fill out survey. Saturday 10–12 or 1–4 or Sunday 10–12 or 1–4
Museum Store Assistant Assist with customer service in the Museum Store. Involves standing and interaction with the public. Saturday 9–1 or 1–5 or Sunday 10–1 or 1–5
Flute Maker Assistant Assist the flute maker with teaching guests how to make a flute. Be comfortable working with visitors and completing the project. Involves sitting and standing. Saturday 9–1 or 1–5 or Sunday 10–1 or 1–4
Take Down Assistant Sunday PM only. Help take down tents, signs, fencing, etc. at the end of the Fair! Involves lifting, walking, and standing. 2 hr. shift Sunday, after the fair 4–6 p.m.
