Music, dance, star gazing, chalk mural, saguaro harvesting demonstration, solar energy displays, food, plus tons of hands-on arts and science activities, and much, much more! A FLAMING GRAND FINALE performance of “Radiance” by Flam Chen and the Dambe Drum Ensemble!

Watch and Listen: Performances by Ballet Folklorico Tapatio with Mariachi Tapatio (Mexican), Halfway Round the House (Irish music), Yellow Bird Indian Dancers (Apache), Cuban Connection (Cuban salsa), Tucson Taiko Kyokai (Japanese drumming), Flam Chen with the Dambe Drum Ensemble (mystical otherworldly fire performance with drumming)

Discover Energy: Make a sun print, see solar and water demonstrations, ride an energy bike with Tucson Electric Power, The Solar Store, Tucson Water, Sungreen LLC, and Tucson Museum of Art

Discover Desert Resources: Make a clay seed pot with Sam Casados, harvest the saguaro with Stella Tucker (Tohono O’odham), dig for fossils with the T-Rex Museum, and learn about plants and animals of the Sonoran Desert with Tohono Chul Park, Colossal Cave Mountain Park, Tucson Audubon Society, St. Xavier Cooperative Farms, Tucson Organic Gardners, Arizona Game and Fish Department, Tucson Botanical Gardens, Arizona Native Plant Society and Arizona State Museum

Look to the stars: View the sky through telescopes with Flandrau Science Center and Kitt Peak National Observatory, draw the constellations with the International Wildlife Museum, understand the Navajo sky with Dr. David Begay (Navajo)

Mark Time: Make a calendar stick, make a sun clock, create a chalk mural with Tucson I Modinnari, Kitt Peak National Observatory, and Arizona State Museum

Celebrate: Make solstice wreaths with Magdalenda Nowacka-Jannotta (Polish), paper flowers with Josefina Lizarrága (Mexican), create a solstice stamp with Postal History Foundation, make masks, cordage bracelets, paper pot designs and play American Indian games with Arizona State Museum, dress a Frida Kahlo paper doll for the celebration, dance, listen to music, and eat watermelon courtesy of Trader Joe’s
