Ethnological Textile CollectionsThe Museum has roughly 3550 textiles including approximately 400 Navajo textiles, ranging from the Classic Period (1850-1860) to the 1990s, with heaviest concentrations in the early 20th century. Other Southwestern textiles include Puebloan blankets, mantas, kilts and sashes. A major collection of close to 1,000 textiles from Northwest Mexico—including Tarahumara, Mayo and Tepehuan—was deposited at the Museum in the late 1970s.
