Small Artifact Collections

The small artifact collections include such items as projectile points, grinding stones, bone awls, shell and turquoise jewelry, and ceramic figurines from every major archaeological culture in the Greater Southwest. Important site and area collections include Paleo-Indian Period mammoth kill sites of Naco, Lehner, and Murray Springs, in southeastern Arizona; Archaic Period Cochise Culture type collections from southern Arizona; Hohokam collections from Snaketown, Hodges Site, Roosevelt:9:6, Las Colinas, and other sites in central and southern Arizona; Mogollon collections from Forestdale and Point of Pines in east-central Arizona, and Mimbres Valley in southwest New Mexico; Anasazi collections from Flagstaff, Winslow, and Prayer Rock in northern Arizona; and Chihuahua Culture collections from the Casas Grandes district, northwest Chihuahua, Mexico.
