Clovis bone shaft wrench

BONE SHAFT WRENCH

Culture: Clovis Complex, Paleo-Indian period
Dates: ca. 11,500 BP
Location: Murray Springs Site, San Pedro River, AZ
Material: bone, probably mammoth rib or long bone

This unique find exhibits beveling and polish on the upper and lower interior surfaces of the "eye" of the wrench, suggesting possible use in straightening spear shafts.
