Ethnological Pottery Collections

With a focus on the Southwest, ASM's pottery collections are particulary strong in Pueblo, Navajo, O'odham, and lower Colorado River areas. A wide ranging collection of Hopi pottery came from a physician who worked at Hopi at the turn of the century. Among the pieces he collected is a Polacca Polychrome canteen, shown below, made by Nampeyo and given to him by her as a gift when he treated her eyes.
