Ethnological Basketry Collections
SERI COILED BASKETSDates: 1940-1960 The Seri Indians living on the coast of Sonora, Mexico make fine coiled basketry of the desert shrub limberbush. Some designs are similar to those of their Tohono O'odham neighbors to the north, others are unique to them, such as the "manta ray" design on the large bowl at the top. |
