COILED BASKETSDates: 1900-1930 Fret patterns are a hallmark of O'odham coiled willow basketry. The early work of the two related groups is often indistinguishable, although Tohono O'odham weavers tended to use more black for a bolder design effect. By 1900, yucca largely replaced willow as the primary coiling material among the Tohono O'odham. |
