Earthwatch Challenge Grant Team Member BiographiesKatie Sewell
Hi, I'm Katie Sewell, and I'm seventeen years of age. I graduated from High School this year and am pursuing a degree in engineering at the University of Wisconsin this fall. I am involved in many forms of dance, including ballet, jazz, and tap; I have been involved as both a student and a teacher. I also have been involved in the Teen Aids Prevention Program as a peer educator. I love it here in Winslow, Arizona. The site is incredible, and the staff is the best in the world; they really know their stuff. I was fortunate to be assigned to a crew working on two new rooms at the Homol’ovi ruins. We're uncovering the layers of history one by one, right from the beginning. The heat isn't as bad as I expected it would be, and I love the fact that there is little to no humidity here. The food and "Winslow water" here are, well . . . tolerable. So, over all, I'm really excited to be here; I'd love to come back again next summer! |
