Techniques: Archaeological Publication and Dissemination of InformationArchaeologists try to make the results of their research efforts available to their colleagues and the general public through a variety of means. Formal, detailed reports are generally published through the institution or company that did the work; summaries are published in professional journals or in the popular press. The results are sometimes used to create museum exhibits and displays. Archaeologists give talks at professional meetings, do public lectures, and conduct tours for their colleagues and the general public. Open Houses are often held at the dig-sites so that the public can see what is being done; or at museums where the public can get behind-the-scenes tours and a chance to talk with the archaeologists.
