About the Image

Based on a prehistoric design,
a male and a female figure with their voices represented
by prayer feathers, hold a bowl containing the
state flowers of Arizona (saguaro cactus),
Colorado (columbine), Nevada (sagebrush),
New Mexico (yucca) and Utah (sego lily).
Below, a five figure migration symbol represents
the life journeys of the people in the IMLS
Five State American Indian Project.
Above the two main figures, rain clouds,
symbolize life. Other designs represent methods
for recording the events of history.
