Sam Minkler will share his journey as a photographer and how his Diné culture has impacted how he perceives and documents the world. He sees photography as a vital instrument for social change—holding within it the capacity to contribute both to cultural heritage and to the urgent issues of our time.

Sam Minkler is an associate professor of photography in the School of Communications at Northern Arizona University.

This talk is presented in conjunction with Arizona State Museum’s exhibit, Light Handlers: Indigenous Photographers in the Southwest, on display February 21 – July 20, 2024.
